No other crime issue awakes emotions like child abuse. Parents would be ready to kill if they know their children were abused. The issue also awakes memories from the childhood from situations near to abuse. The offenders are hated and many people want lifelong penalties or enforcement to castration for them.

But all prisons would be too small for all pedophiles. 50.000 men could be affected – just in Austria. In average each offender attacks four children – so there could be 200.000 victioms just in Austria, every fourth girl and every seventh boy. The worldwide range is obviously visible in the internet. Studies show that child pornography is a billion dollar business.
Why are mostly men offenders? Are there also pedophile women? What do the the offenders do to their victims? What can society do to avoid abuse? To find answers to these questions Christoph Feurstein speaks with victims, offenders and experts in a special issue of his weekly programme THEMA.
He also visited a prevention project of “Chartité” in Berlin. This project is looking for pedophiles who are willing to get professional help, a campagne named “how not become an offender”.
A documentary which shows - you have to deal with offenders to save the children.
